Fully restored 1979 MGB – A Regular Show Winner
Example of the
Since its restoration, this MGB has consistently been ranked at the top in almost every show it has entered including the prestigious Britain on the Green. In addition to the outstanding cosmetics this car was restored with dependability as a central feature, including a rebuild of its original motor.
A car to be Enjoyed
Every component of this MGB has been addressed to ensure it is enjoyed, , whether going to a judged car show, off to dinner at a favorite restaurant or heading to the mountains for a weekend.
- Paint and Chrome
The first thing that jumps out about this car is the condition of its recent paint, enhanced by the black MG graphics and the polished chrome luggage carrier. Powder-coated rims and correct gleaming hubcaps compliment the look. This red MG is immediately a crowd favorite.
- Convertible top and Tonneau
Whatever the weather or time of year, this MG is ready for it. Top down for those warm spring days; tonneau for a brisk drive in the fall; and like new convertible top for that sudden rain storm. By the way, this top goes up and down with ease.
- Engine and Transmission
The rebuilt (with receipt) 4 cylinder engine is a lion on twisty roads and a lamb around town, but fun at all times. The clutch was replaced when the engine was rebuilt and mates smoothly with its 4-speed synchromesh transmission.
The engine compartment is a work of art in itself. Neat as a pin and clean as an operating room, the engine and its components are tastefully encased in a sea of chrome. And just for fun at nighttime cruise-ins, a switch under the hood turns on a parade of LED lights to illuminate the engine compartment.
- Interior and Controls
The black leather bucket seats, trimmed with red piping are as pretty to look at as they are comfortable to sit in. They, like the rest of the interior, look like new. The wood trim on the dash and matching steering wheel provide a warm look, while a Pioneer stereo/CD player provides your favorites.
- Safety features
The MG has three-point seat belts for each occupant, front disc brakes and radial tires to enhance the safety of drivers and passengers alike.
And because the owner has a motorcycle, the MG is equipped with a trailer hitch and requisite wiring for it to be trailered behind the car.
Finally, the car has passed a very recent Virginia Safety Inspection.
The MGB defines British
While the Aston Martins and Jaguars may have set the bar for luxury in British sports cars, the MGs were an affordable, bread and butter car that helped popularized British sports cars in America. And for good reason: nice styling, spirited performance, and comfort while still retaining the characteristics of a true British sports car.
