A Great Grand Touring Sports Car
- Paint and Underside
The car was finished in the very attractive Smoke Silver Metallic (code 702), and it sports both a matching Pagoda removable hardtop as well as a canvas (as original) convertible top.
The frame and underside of the car appear free of rust, other than some minimal surface rust.
- Interior and Top
The Gray leather-trimmed seat upholstery is all in good condition without any splits or holes. The door panels and dash pad look equally nice with the exception of two small cracks in the dash. Unusual for these cars, the wood dash trim all looks extremely nice with only a few cracks on the console.
The Pagoda removable hardtop is finished in the same color as the car and looks like new.
The chocolate/black convertible top is canvas and in generally good condition with one small puncture in the left rear quarter glass and a small area where it may have been pinched during a closing.
This car has the 5.6 liter V-8 engine made for the 560SL series. The engine starts right up and runs as it should—strong and fast!
- Transmission The automatic transmission shifts properly and smoothly enabling an enjoyable ride around town or into the country.
- Tires, Brakes, Luxury and Monitoring Systems
This SL has 4 new Kelly 205/65R15 tires mounted on Mercedes wheels—that have been driven about 6000 miles—as well as a spare.
The power disc brakes on all four wheels bring the car to a rapid and safe stop.
The list of luxury/safety features includes:
- Air conditioning, with climate control
- AM/FM radio with power antenna that may have lost its code when battery was upgraded
- Power steering
- Power brakes
- Cruise control
- Power windows
- Soft and hard tops
There is nothing to surpass a Mercedes for Quality
When one sees and drives this 560 SL it becomes apparent why the R 107 series was a hit for 18 years. Solid, comfortable and reliable best describe this sports car. This series is set to become the next generation of SLs that experience value appreciation.
Accordingly, this 560SL car represents not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. However good the investment, the joy of driving this quality machine is what really counts.
