The paint on this F1 is Black and is of show quality. An array of tasteful red pinstripes add a bit of flare. The front is frenched with a modified all black front bumper to add a distinctive yet reminiscent look to this F1. The rear of the truck has been turned into a piece of metal artwork prominently retaining the truck’s Ford heritage while housing the tailgate and quad tail lights.
The refinished wooden pickup bed is a treat to see with its wooden planks stained red and its silver frame. The fuel tank has been moved to rest in the rear under the bed and the fuel filler has been cleverly concealed under the hinged black hard cover of the spare tire.
The underside is almost show-quality clean. Please see pictures.
The professionally-designed custom red seats with silver inserts brightens the interior with its Fifties look. The dash features a two-toned Black and Silver finish and houses the new gauges and radio. The radio, while looking like the truck’s original AM, is actually an Antique Automobile Radio’s AM/FM look-alike conversion. The air conditioning vents are nicely fabricated so they look like part of the dash.
The floor mounted Lokar automatic transmission shifter nicely handles directing the engine’s power to the C-4 transmission while the tilt steering column makes driving comfortable for the operator.
Filling the detailed engine compartment is the original 289 Mercury engine which has been completely disassembled and rebuilt with aluminum heads. Added was a external oil filter system to provide enhanced oil circulation for the engine.
The addition of a C-4 automatic transmission activated by a Lokar shifter makes for pleasant driving while feeding power to the Ford 9” rear end.
- Steering and Brakes
The addition of a Toyota steering box provides for greater driver control and with power assistance a more pleasurable drive. Stopping is greatly improved with front power disc brakes that bring the truck to a much quicker stop.
- Safety and Convenience
The truck is equipped with front disc brakes and seat belts for extra safety.
The addition of power steering and a tilt steering wheel help turn this pickup into a delight to drive.
