A Great Grand Touring Sports Car

  • Paint and Underside

The car was finished in the very attractive Light Ivoryand it sparkles today as it did when it was new.

The frame and underside of the car appear free of corrosion other than surface rust.

  • Interior and Top

The fawn/tan-colored two-tone seats are in extremely good condition without any splits or holes. The door panels and dash pad look equally nice.  The wood dash trim is likewise in very nice condition.

The removable Pagoda hardtop is finished in the same Light Ivory as the car and looks like new, as does its headliner.

The black convertible top is canvas and in overall good condition with 2 small tears likely from getting pinched when top was put down.

  • Engine

This car has the 3.8 liter V-8 engine made for the 380SL series.    The engine starts right up and runs as it should—strong and fast!

The car will soon need a new exhaust system.

  • Transmission

The automatic transmission shifts properly and smoothly enabling an enjoyable ride around town or out into the country.

  • Tires, Brakes, and Luxury/Safety Systems

This SL has 4 Michelin 205/70R14 tires that have most of their tread remaining, as well as a spare.

The power disc brakes on all four wheels bring the car to a rapid and safe stop.

The list of luxury/safety features includes:

  • AM/FM radio
  • Power steering
  • Power brakes
  • Cruise control
  • Power windows
  • Air conditioning
  • Soft and hard tops

There is nothing to surpass a Mercedes for Quality

When one sees and drives this 380 SL it becomes apparent why this series was a hit for 18 years.  “Solid”, “comfortable” and “reliable” best describe this sports car. This series is set to become the next generation of Mercedes SLs that experience value appreciation, particularly a SL in this condition and popular color.

Accordingly, this 380SL car represents not just a great driving experience but likely a sound investment as well.  However good the investment, the joy of driving this quality machine is what really counts.
